LINDEN -- Mrs. Mary Alta McCallum, 87, died at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Hunter Rest Home at Crawfordsville, where she lived seven years. She was born April 28, 1876, at Selins Grove, Pa., a daughter of Newton and Mattie Snoddy Staley. She married John W. McCallum July 31, 1912. Mrs. McCallum was a member of Linden-Kirkpatrick Methodist Church and American Legion Auxiliary Unit 306. Surviving are a stepson, Bruce McCallum of New Market, and six step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, stepson and stepdaughter (Mildred Evelyn McCallum, died 1904, age 7). Funeral services are set for 10 a.m. Saturday at the Helms Funeral Chapel here, with Rev. Willis Syphers the minister and burial in the Linden Cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. - kbz
